The .xopp file extension is intrinsically linked to Xournal++, a popular and free, open-source note-taking application. Unlike simple image formats, .xopp files store your notes in a structured, editable format. This allows for later editing, modification, and even exporting to other formats like PDF or PNG, maintaining a high level of fidelity. To open a .xopp file, you’ll need to download and install Xournal++. It’s available for various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, from the official Xournal++ website. Once installed, simply double-clicking the .xopp file should automatically open it within the Xournal++ application. If this doesn’t work, you can open the application first and then use the “Open” function within the file menu to locate and select your .xopp file. Remember that .xopp files are specific to Xournal++, so other applications won’t be able to directly open and edit them. If you need to share your notes with someone who doesn’t use Xournal++, exporting to a more universal format like PDF is the recommended approach.
