File Extension
Extension: MikroTik Software Package
Developer: MikroTik
Opening an .npk file requires using the MikroTik RouterOS itself. You cannot directly extract the contents on a standard computer like you would with a .zip or .rar file. Instead, you need to access your MikroTik device’s command-line interface (CLI) or use the Winbox graphical interface. Within the RouterOS environment, you’ll typically find a “Package” or similar menu option. From there, you can navigate to the .npk file (often via an FTP connection or by transferring it directly to the device), select it, and initiate the installation process. The RouterOS will then handle the extraction and installation of the contained files, updating your router’s software or configuration as specified by the package. Always ensure the .npk file is from a trusted source to avoid security risks.
